Domain Flipping

Domainer, domaining, and domain investor are all different words that are used in the domain industry. Outside the industry, most people don’t know what it means, but all these words have the same aspect of buying domains cheaply and making a profit by flipping them just like in any business.

Every domainer has a different strategy; some domain investors hold the domain longer to get a better ROI. Some flip them quickly to keep up with the cash flow, and if done correctly, every strategy has its own advantages.

Two very popular ways to sell domains are inbound and outbound. When a buyer comes to you with an offer to buy your domain, it is inbound. To receive inbound offers, you should list your domains on different marketplaces.

Outbound means you approach the buyers and start knocking on their door to purchase your domain, which can be done through emails, phone calls, etc.

And the strategy I like the most to flip domains is outbound. Let’s discuss how to sell domains by doing outbound within a few days.

Jump-start your cold outreach strategy instantly with our proven templates

Step 1 – Start With Your Niche.

The earlier experience always works regardless of the industry; if you have a passion or expertise in photography, this can be very handy in choosing a good photography-related domain name, and by using expireddomains.net, you can find some quality domains that are expiring.

Every day thousands of domains get expired, and by doing some research, you can always find some nuggets.

Step 2 -Stick With .com

.com is the king, and it is the most popular and commonly used web extension in the world; even my 10-year-old nephew knows about.com, so stick with .com, especially if you are new to domain flipping. Once you find some success later, you can dabble around different web extensions but not in the beginning.

Step 3 – Domain Name Should Have Some Commercial Value.

Commercial value means it should have some search volume, CPC (cost per click), and paid advertisers; on Google, if you type this keyword ” tree removal Florida,” you will find companies that are running paid ads on this keyword this means that there is a value in the keyword.

So companies who are fighting with each other to rank higher might see value in this particular keyword; always choose the domain that has some demand in the market.

Step 4 – Start reaching out to your existing connection.

Your network is your wealth, one of the quickest ways to sell a domain is by reaching out to your existing connection with whom you have done business in the past or have interacted.

Look at your emails or LinkedIn account and check with whom you have done some business related to a domain name you are trying to flip. They know you, and they will most likely trust you.

Step 5 – Be Reasonable With Price And Flip it.

It is scarce that you will sell the domain you bought for $8 in thousands of dollars; it can happen, but let’s be practical it doesn’t happen often. I firmly believe if you like to create a good cash flow in flipping domains, your strategy should be churn and burn.

If you are new to domaining, focus more on building a cash flow, especially if you don’t have a budget to acquire premium domains or build a strong portfolio by buying thousands of names.

And, one of the best strategies to taste early success in your domain career is flipping domains by doing outbound because you can get it going by spending only $100-$200.

But never treat or think of the domain industry as a “get rich quick scheme.” treat it as a business, whether you are doing it full-time or part-time, and success will be yours.

That’s it for now. I hope this helps.

Namaste 🙏
