Outbound Funny Encounters

Selling domains by doing outbound is a never-ending grind; it requires a proper strategy. IMO, outbound is not easy, and it can be challenging, especially to those who are not used to rejections.

While doing outreach, you’ll receive all kinds of replies like, tell me more, take me off your list, how much blah blah, and then there are some funny -weird responses you get.

In this post, I’ll be sharing some of the weirdest and funny responses I have received.

Where is APP?

Last year in June, I sold a three-word domain, and it was a super smooth process. I spoke with the buyer over the phone and explained to him the whole process of how he can buy the domain securely using dan.com. He clicked on BIN and purchased the domain for $500.

I always let buyers know that he is buying a domain name, not a website, but after a couple of days buyer called me and said:

Jump-start your cold outreach strategy instantly with our proven templates

“Yogi, I have not received the APP along with it.”? I was like, WTF is going on?

haha, wait what gif

But somehow I managed to control my emotions and explained that he only bought the domain, not an app and APP doesn’t sell for $500.

He asked me if I can build an APP for him for $500(is it really possible?). I told him I only sell domains and I’m not a developer, So yeah, that was a peculiar kind of response I received.

Come to Miami we will have fun.

Last year in July, I picked up an escort-related GEO domain from the expired list, and I really liked that name, so instead of sending the email, I decided to do some cold calling. I still remember the very first phone number I dialed was an escort agency in Miami.

The lady who picked up the phone was actually the owner of that escort agency. I told her, “Hey, my name is Yogi. I have this domain, would you like to buy this”? She said, “Of course, how much” Me – $600; she – “Okay, let’s do this.” I was like, WTH, if this domain sells, this will be my fastest sale.

But hang on, something “strange” was about to happen. So when she said, “let’s do this,” I started explaining how the whole process works, and after listening to me, she said:

“How about barter? You come to Miami, and you get our services for free, have some fun and in return, you hand over the domain to us, deal?”

Hihi, lovely, isn’t it? I mean, who doesn’t want this, right? It was a mouth-watering offer, but unfortunately, it was not possible for me because A – I’m married and B – I’m in India.😔

So with a 💔, I told her it’s not possible for me. However, she understood and laughed (I still don’t know why she laughed), and she ends up buying the domain name from Dan.com for $600 maybe in the future who knows one day I’ll be in Miami, and I might call her and ask if she has any new requirements for a different name?

Oh, and BTW she did invite me to visit her if I ever visit Miami.😉

I just wanted to share this for fun. I hope you like it.
